Inauguration of Modernization of Agricultural Mechanization Center in Damanhour

The Japan International Cooperation Agency [JICA]and Embassy of Japan in collaboration with The Agriculture Mechanization Sector of Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation celebrated on June 7, 2009 the inauguration of the new Agriculture Mechanization Center in Damanhour and the procurement of tractors of combine harvesters under the grant assistance offered by Japan. The inauguration of the center attended by H.E Minister of Agriculture and Land reclamation Mr. Amin Abaza, H.E Governor of Behira General. Mohamed Sayed Sharawy and from Japanese side H.E Japanese Ambassador Mr. Kaoru Ishikawa and Chief Representative of JICA- Egypt Office Mr. Nobuhiro Ikuro.
The Agricultural Mechanization Station in Damanhour has been developed into a new modernized Agricultural Mechanization Center (AMC) by establishing Training Center and Central workshop in addition to the former Hiring Service through the provision of equipments and construction of necessary facilities.
This project is funded by the Government of Japan and supervised by JICA. The construction works in this center started on Nov. 26, 2007 and finished on Oct. 19, 2008 with a cost of 790 million Japanese Yen (equivalent around 45 million LE).
JICA in collaboration with Embassy of Japan assisted smooth implementation of the construction work through being consulted by contractors.
